What Texas Instruments does
Texas Instruments (TI) designs and makes semiconductors, the chips inside electronic equipment, and sells them to companies that design and build electronics around the world. It offers more than 80,000 products, used in factory equipment, cars, data centers, phones and other personal electronics, and communications gear. Based in Dallas, it sells to over 100,000 customers. TI had $17.68 billion of revenue in 2025. Its Analog segment, chips that handle real-world signals such as sound or temperature, often turning them into data, and that manage power in devices, brought in $14.01 billion, about 79% of revenue. Embedded Processing, processors built to handle specific tasks in equipment, used particularly in industrial and automotive markets, brought in $2.70 billion, about 15%. The rest, $979 million, came from projector chips, calculators and some custom chips. TI sells mostly directly, including through its website: more than 80% of 2025 revenue.
Biggest risks, in its own words
- Strong competition that forces it to respond quickly on new products and prices.
- Changes in demand for its chips, which can swing with the ups and downs of the chip industry.
- Supply chain and manufacturing problems, including at the factories that make most of its chips.
- Political, economic and trade conditions in the many countries where it operates and sells.
