Diagnostic Products sells lab instruments and tests, rapid tests, and point-of-care systems to hospitals, labs, blood banks and clinics. Nutritional Products sells infant formula (Similac), adult nutrition drinks (Ensure, Glucerna, Pedialyte) and tube-feeding products. Biggest risks, in its own words
- Borrowing a large amount to pay for the Exact Sciences deal, which would reduce its flexibility.
- Safety concerns about its products, or problems making them, which are complex to manufacture.
- Disruptions in its large, complex global supply chain.
- Changes in health care rules, government programs and cost-cutting efforts that lower prices or demand.
