From its latest annual report

Alphabet is the parent company of Google. Google runs Search, YouTube, the Android phone software, the Chrome browser, Gmail, Maps, the Google Play app store and the Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, most of them free to use. It also sells Pixel phones and other devices, and rents computing power, data tools and AI models to businesses through Google Cloud.

Alphabet reports two Google segments plus a group of smaller ventures. Google Services makes most of its money from ads shown on Search, YouTube and partner websites and apps, plus YouTube subscriptions, app sales on Google Play and devices. Google Cloud charges businesses subscriptions and usage fees for cloud services and the Workspace office apps. Other Bets includes Waymo, which runs paid driverless taxi rides in several cities. Revenue in 2025 was $402.8 billion, and Alphabet says more than 70% came from online advertising. Cloud revenue grew 36%. Alphabet says it competes with other search engines, shopping and travel sites, social networks, other ad sellers, AI model developers and hardware makers.

Alphabet had 190,820 employees at the end of 2025. It also develops its own AI chips, called Tensor Processing Units, and in 2025 agreed to buy the cloud security company Wiz for $32.0 billion in cash, a deal not yet completed when the 10-K was filed.

KIRA’s summary AI analyst

Hi! I read Alphabet’s latest annual report (fiscal 2025). Here is what stands out:

6 strengths 1 to watch

1.Sales and profit

  • Alphabet had $402.8B of revenue in fiscal 2025, up 15.1% on the year before. Over five years, revenue changed +17.2% a year on average.
  • Its operating margin was 32.0%, down 0.1Β pts: of every 100 in sales, about 32 is left after running the business.
  • Alphabet made $132.2B of net profit in fiscal 2025. From fiscal 2016 to 2025, diluted EPS grew 25.6% a year.

2.Cash and shareholders

See section β†’
  • Free cash flow was $73.3B in fiscal 2025, 18.2% of revenue.
  • Alphabet returned $55.8B to shareholders in fiscal 2025, 76% of free cash flow. The diluted share count fell 1.7%.

  • Its return on capital was 36.7%: every 100 invested in the business earned about 37 in a year.
  • Alphabet passes 8 of 9 financial health tests (Piotroski F-score).

4.Price and value

See section β†’
  • At $320.21 a share, the company is worth $3.94T: 16.1 times its earnings of the last four quarters.
  • Alphabet grew sales faster than 2 of its 4 similar companies. Its P/E is higher than 0 of 3.

Biggest risks, in its own words

  • Its reliance on advertising, which could suffer if advertisers spend less, partners leave, or ad blocking and new ad formats change the market.
  • AI is reshaping search and advertising, and Google may not adapt as well as its rivals.
  • Heavy spending on new businesses and technologies, including AI and Other Bets, may not pay off.
  • Competition and privacy regulators and courts around the world could force changes to how Google does business.
  • Problems in how its AI is built and used could harm its reputation and expose it to more legal claims.

About these figures. Alphabet reported its share count separately for each share class until 2022, so the diluted share count is blank for earlier years. Earnings per share are shown for every year. Share counts and per-share figures for earlier years are restated for a stock split (20-for-1), so every year is on today's share basis.
